How is an external system (i.e. Crestron/AMX) used to send commands to the PerfectTrack?

 

  • The PerfectTrack can be externally controlled by connecting (1) USB serial cable to the COM 1 port (yellow front-facing USB port) on the Intel NUC.
  • The second USB serial cable used to control the connected PTZ camera can be place on any other port. (When only one USB serial cable is connected, the port connected is insignificant)
  • To send serial commands to the PerfectTrack, simply establish a valid connection with the following specifications:

1) 38400 baud rate
2) 8 bits, 1 stop bit
3) No parity
4) No flow control

When tracking is active the camera pans and tilts sporadically.

Often this means the correct camera is not selected in the Preferences menu. In the user interface go to the top right hand corner and click on Preferences. Double check in the Camera Selection menu that the proper model is selected.

Tracking is also most effective when the subject is in the center at the start of tracking.

How come the PerfectTrack keeps restarting on shutdown?

  • By default on some Intel NUC machines, the BIOs settings have been improperly setup and will cause failed shutdown attempt when an active USB connection is left plugged into S4/S5 of the machine.
  • To fix this issue:

1) Press F2 on bootup to enter the BIOs menu.
2) Then click on Advanced Settings Button.
3) Then click on the Power Menu Tab.
4) Then click on the Secondary Power Settings Tab.
5) Then confirm that the BIOs settings match those below:

  • Although USB S4/S5 Power and Wake on USB from S5 options are checked, they are actually disabled internally.
  • **Note: If a blank screen appears after pressing F2 on the boot options menu, there may be an issue with the HDMI cable. There is a known issue with the Intel NUC where some HDMI converters have caused the BIOs options to appear blank. Try switching converters or cables to enable the use of the BIOs options screen.

How does the Perfect Track know who to track?

The Perfect Track is designed to track the largest detected face within the video frame. The Perfect Track also utilizes edge and motion detection algorithms to continue filming and tracking subjects if their face is not visually available.

How to set the home position?

  • Move the camera to the desired position using the camera’s remote.
  • Click on the Preferences button.
  • Click the Set Home Position button, then OK to confirm new home position once a dialog box appears.
  • Click the Save button.

How to change the camera model?

  • Click on the Preferences button.
  • Click the drop-down arrow next to the Select Camera Model row.
  • Click on the desired camera from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the Save button.
