How come my RS232/RS422 serial cable isn’t working properly?

  • First, make sure the proper baudrate for the connected camera is set under System Preferences.
  • Then, try to follow the guide listed here in case Windows has improperly installed the wrong default serial driver:
    [PDF] Win64 RS242R / RS422 USB UART Driver Install

  • Upon installation, activate AlterCam [internet connectivity required] with the provided license key.
    • Launch AlterCam > Click on the ‘About’ Button > Click the ‘Activate’ Button > Enter in the provided license key > Click the ‘Okay’ Button.
  • Then, click on the ‘Options’ Button > Uncheck the ‘Show Logo’ checkmark (removes the logo from the virtual camera video feed).

How do I add additional camera model(s) to the Perfect Track?

Users will not be able to add additional cameras to the camera compatibility list themselves. Dycap specifically tests and configures the controller system for every camera. For best results, the Sony EVI camera should be selected from the Perfect Track 3 Preferences menu.

How is an external system (i.e. Crestron/AMX) used to send commands to the PerfectTrack?

  • [Linux] The PerfectTrack can be externally controlled by connecting (1) USB serial cable to the COM 1 port (yellow front-facing USB port) on the Intel NUC.
    • The second USB serial cable used to control the connected PTZ camera can be place on any other port. (When only one USB serial cable is connected, the port connected is insignificant)
  • [Windows] Simply connect two USB serial cables to the Perfect Track system and the software will automatically determine which cable controls the camera and external interface.
  • To send serial commands to the PerfectTrack, simply establish a valid connection with the following specifications:
    • User-selectable baud rate [default: 9600 bps]
    • 8 bits, 1 stop bit
    • No parity
    • No flow control

When tracking is active the camera pans and tilts sporadically.

Often this means the correct camera is not selected in the Preferences menu. In the user interface go to the top right hand corner and click on Preferences. Double check in the Camera Selection menu that the proper model is selected.

Tracking is also most effective when the subject is in the center at the start of tracking.

How come the PerfectTrack keeps restarting on shutdown?

  • By default on some Intel NUC machines, the BIOs settings have been improperly setup and will cause failed shutdown attempt when an active USB connection is left plugged into S4/S5 of the machine.
  • To fix this issue:

1) Press F2 on bootup to enter the BIOs menu.
2) Then click on Advanced Settings Button.
3) Then click on the Power Menu Tab.
4) Then click on the Secondary Power Settings Tab.
5) Then confirm that the BIOs settings match those below:

6) Then press F10 to Save and Exit.

  • Although USB S4/S5 Power and Wake on USB from S5 options are checked, they are actually disabled internally.
  • **Note: If a blank screen appears after pressing F2 on the boot options menu, there may be an issue with the HDMI cable. There is a known issue with the Intel NUC where some HDMI converters have caused the BIOs options to appear blank. Try switching converters or cables to enable the use of the BIOs options screen.
